A full page designer for the paperwork your factory runs on — work orders, packing lists, pick lists, quality forms — and a second designer that writes native ZPL for the label printer on the packing line. Same binding tree, same template library, same permissions. One button switches between them.
A packing list is a page: margins, headers, footers, tables that flow onto page two. A shipping label is a strip of thermal stock and a printer that speaks ZPL. Forcing one designer to be both produces something that is bad at both, so the Document Designer is two designers that share everything except the canvas.
Drag elements onto a sheet in millimetres, bind them to the order, load or article you print from, and let the page do what pages do: a header that repeats, a footer that numbers itself, a table of lines that continues overleaf, and a new page whenever your own rule says so. Print it on the office laser, or export it as a PDF to attach to a mail.
Label, text box, paragraph, image, conditional image, line, divider, rectangle, ellipse, table, collection table, checkbox, barcode, QR code, print counter and date/time — each positioned in millimetres, with angle, opacity, lock and auto-size on a fixed axis.
Give an element the role of header, footer or content, repeat it on every page, keep it with the next one, or hide it when its field is empty. The layout flows instead of being one fixed screenshot.
Start a new page when a field changed since the previous record, or equals, exceeds or contains a value — combined with ANY or ALL. One print run, correctly split per customer, per site, per order.
Sort the records stacked on a page by any field, ascending or descending, in priority order — and sort on part of a value, found by search text or by character position, for the codes where only the middle matters.
Give every record its own page, or stack several on one sheet with a set gap between them. Ask for the number of copies at print time, with the print counter advancing per copy.
A conditional image picks its picture from rules on a field — equals, greater, contains — from a stored asset or a path in the data, with a fallback when no rule matches. CE marks, hazard symbols and customer logos stop being a template each.
Split the sheet into rows and columns of guides and fill every part from the first one. A sheet of self-adhesive labels is designed once, not twelve times — and the guides never print.
Pick the printer profile — full colour, laser/inkjet, direct thermal, thermal transfer, dye-sublimation or solid ink — and the print quality, from 300 up to 1200 dpi. What is drawn is what that machine can actually put on paper.
A full multi-page preview with zoom and page navigation, filled with a real record, before anything is printed. Or export the same document as a PDF and send it instead.
The label designer does not draw a picture of a label and send the picture. It emits ZPL — the language the printer already speaks — so the text and the barcode are rendered by the print head at its own resolution, stay razor sharp, and travel over the network as a few kilobytes instead of a bitmap. The canvas shows the label at its true size for the stock and density you chose.
Every element compiles to the printer's own commands — ^FO for position, ^A for fonts, ^BC for barcodes, ^GB for rules. Sharp at 203, 300 or 600 dpi, and a fraction of the data over the wire.
Text, count label, barcode, box, circle, line, image, date/time and a collection table — each with the ZPL specifics that matter: font width in dots, rotation in 90° steps, reverse print, and field blocks that wrap.
Code 128, Code 39, EAN-13, EAN-8, QR, DataMatrix and PDF417 — encoded by the printer from the field you bound, so the scanner reads what Dynamics actually holds.
The collection table exists here too: per-column header, binding, format, alignment, width and maximum lines, a fallback chain per column, row filters with AND/OR, a reverse-video header, transposing, and the pre-print row picker.
Choose the label size from the presets or set your own, choose 203, 300 or 600 dpi, and the canvas becomes that label at true size — so what you place at 3 mm from the edge prints at 3 mm from the edge.
A code panel shows the generated ZPL as you design. Copy it out for a test, or paste ZPL in and apply it: the code is parsed back into elements you can keep editing. An existing label from another system starts as a paste.
Keep your printers by name, IP or hostname, port, location and description, mark one as the default, and send the job to it directly — no driver, no print queue, no "which printer was that in the shipping bay".
Ask for the number of copies at print time and override the counters for this run — start value, step, and how often it advances — with a progress readout per label while the batch is sent.
Text fitting is computed before the job leaves, because a printer will happily accept valid ZPL and print an overflowing line on top of the one above it. The preview is checked against the same rules the print head follows.
Binding, prompting, template management and permissions are the same on both canvases — which is the point of having them in one page instead of two products.
Any element can bind to a field of the order, load, article or BOM line you print from, with formatting, a fallback when a field is empty, and conditions that decide whether it appears at all.
Print the order's lines, a BOM's components or a load's shipment lines as a table, with per-column bindings, filters, and a choice of what happens when the rows do not fit: clip, shrink or continue.
Mark an element to prompt at print time, optionally only when a condition holds. A line table asks which rows to print — searchable, with a running count — so the one-off exception does not need a second template.
Documents and labels live side by side in the same list, each with an enabled flag and one marked active for printing. Switching designers keeps the template you had open.
Templates live centrally per company, and per-template access decides who may open and who may edit — with the creator always able to. The layout your customer receives does not depend on whose PC printed it.
Both designers run in Dutch or English, follow the DynBrowser theme you picked, and carry full undo/redo plus an explicit edit mode so nobody changes the company template by leaning on the keyboard.
