DynCost (cost price list)

DynCost is your organisation's own price list: for each cost category of the route, a machine rate and a labour rate per hour, and optionally a rate per piece. The DynCost Calculator uses these rates to work out an item's cost price.

DynCost changes nothing in D365. The price lists are stored encrypted on the DynSolutionZ server.

How a price list works

  • There is one price list per company. A list for All companies applies to every company without an active list of its own.
  • You change rates in a draft. The draft is saved automatically ("Saved hh:mm"), but doesn't count anywhere yet.
  • Publish… turns the draft into a version that no longer changes.
  • One version is active. Only that one is used by the calculator. Publishing and activating are separate steps; when publishing you can switch on Activate right away.

The header shows where you are:

Label Meaning
Draft · N changes There are changes that are not published yet.
Version vN · active / not active The version you are looking at, and whether the calculator uses it.
Calculations: vN The version calculations for this company use. If the company falls back to the all-companies list, or there is no list, this label is shown in a warning colour.

Looking up rates

  1. Choose the Company at the top. If it isn't listed, choose + Other company….
  2. Search, filter or sort in the Price list tab.
  3. Click a line. The detail panel shows which Resources, Routes and Production orders use the category.

The columns:

Column Meaning
Category, Description The cost category as in D365
Site Empty = applies to all sites; filled in = a different rate for that site
Machine €/h, Labour €/h, Total €/h The hourly rates; total = machine + labour
Per piece € Extra cost per piece made
D365 latest The rate D365 used most recently
Δ % How far your rate differs from it
Used Whether resources or routes in D365 use the category

A dot before the line: accent colour = new, not published yet; orange = changed since the published version. A red wavy line under a category means the code is not valid.

The filters (All, Changed, No price, Differs from D365, Not used in D365, New from D365) quickly show what needs attention.

Editing the draft

This needs the right Edit the cost price list.

  • Edit a cell: double-click, press Enter or F2, or start typing. Tab goes to the next cell, Esc cancels.
  • + Line adds a category. The right-click menu includes Edit rate, Duplicate, Take D365 rate, Adjust price… and Delete.
  • Bulk… raises or lowers the selected lines by a percentage on machine and/or labour, or deletes them.
  • Discover from D365 adds every cost category that resources or operations in D365 use, at a rate of € 0.00. Then fill in the rates.
  • Import… reads an Excel or CSV file. You map the columns and check the changes before they go into the draft.
  • Export saves the lines as you see them.

If a colleague has saved the draft in the meantime, DynCost asks what you want: Load their version or Keep my version.

Publishing and activating

This needs the right Publish the cost price list.

  1. Click Publish….
  2. Check what is new, changed and removed, and enter a note (required).
  3. Optionally switch on Activate right away, and confirm.

You activate another version with the version picker (the active version shows ● active) or from History. DynCost asks you to confirm first: from then on, calculations for that company use that version.

Comparing with D365

The Compare D365 tab puts your rates next to what D365 actually charged in recent months.

  1. Choose the Window (3, 6, 12 or 24 months) and Deviation from (for example 5 %).
  2. Click Fetch from D365.
  3. Each line gets a status: equal, differs, only in D365, no transactions or rate 0 in D365.
  4. To take rates over, choose Take over into draft…. D365 has a single rate, so DynCost asks how to split it over machine and labour: Keep the ratio, All to machine, All to labour or By resource type.

History

The History tab shows every published version.

  • Show changes shows what changed in a version; Compare with draft puts a version next to your draft.
  • Restore into draft overwrites the draft with that version. What is already published stays unchanged.

Company without its own price list

If a company uses the all-companies list, a banner says so. With edit rights you can choose Edit the list for all companies or Create a price list for … there.

Rights

Right What you can do
See cost prices View the published list (read-only) and use the calculator
Edit the cost price list Edit the draft, discover, take over from D365, import
Publish the cost price list Publish, activate, restore

With only See cost prices you see "Read-only: you can view the published list, not edit it."

Note

If your administrator has switched off seeing cost prices for you, DynCost doesn't open at all, rather than opening with blank amounts.
