Updates

DynBrowser checks DynSolutionZ for a new version every few minutes, once the workstation has a licence. Downloads are verified before they are installed.

Per installation method

Installation How the update is installed
Setup wizard The new wizard runs in the background and restarts DynBrowser. No administrator rights needed
MSI The new MSI is installed after DynBrowser closes. Windows asks for permission (UAC); if the user declines, the old version starts again. Log: %TEMP%\DynBrowserMsiUpdate.log
Intune (with IS_INTUNE_DEPLOY=1) DynBrowser does not look for updates itself. You roll out a new version through Intune. The update button says "Updates managed by IT (Intune)"
ZIP version DynUpdater.exe puts the new version in the same folder and restarts DynBrowser

Tip

If you want to control updates completely yourself, use the Intune deployment. There is no other way to switch off the built-in updater.

What the user sees

Per version DynSolutionZ decides how an update arrives:

  • Optional: a window with the new version, which the user can dismiss.
  • Mandatory: the window keeps coming back until the update is installed.
  • Silent: the update is prepared in the background and installed at the next start.

After an update a What's new window opens. Users can switch that off; centrally you can with the ShowWhatsNewOnUpdate setting.
