Installation

There are three ways to install DynBrowser. Choose one per workstation.

Method For Rights Updates
Setup wizard Individual workstations, users who install it themselves No administrator rights needed Automatic, without a UAC prompt
MSI Per-machine deployment, e.g. through software distribution Administrator rights Automatic, with a UAC prompt
Intune Management through Microsoft Intune System Through Intune

There is also a ZIP version without installation; see below.

Getting the installer

  • Customer portal → Downloads. Who may download there depends on your licence's setting. By default, your organisation's administrators.
  • A personal download link from DynSolutionZ, for example for the first installation. A link is personal and valid for a while.

All files are digitally signed by DynSolutionZ B.V.

Setup wizard

File: DynBrowser-Setup-<version>.exe.

The wizard installs DynBrowser per user in %LocalAppData%\Programs\DynBrowser. The folder can be changed.

  • By default it creates a desktop and Start menu shortcut, and starts DynBrowser when it is done. Starting with Windows is off by default.
  • DynBrowser appears in Apps & features, where it can also be repaired or removed.
  • The wizard copies itself into the installation folder, so repair and removal also work without internet.
  • If DynBrowser is running, the wizard closes it first.

Silent installation

DynBrowser-Setup-<version>.exe --silent
Option Meaning
--silent No windows
--install-dir=<path> Another installation folder
--autostart Start with Windows
--no-desktop-shortcut No desktop shortcut
--no-startmenu No Start menu shortcut
--uninstall Remove
--purge-data When removing, also delete the settings and local data

A silent installation writes a log to %TEMP%\DynSolutionzSetup-dynbrowser.log. The exit code is 0 on success, 1 on an error and 3 when there was nothing to do.

Note

A silent installation does not check whether the WebView2 Runtime is present. Make sure it is (see System requirements).

MSI

File: DynBrowser-<version>.msi.

The MSI installs DynBrowser per machine in C:\Program Files\DynBrowser, with a Start menu shortcut (no desktop shortcut).

msiexec /i DynBrowser-<version>.msi /qn /norestart
  • The WebView2 Runtime must already be installed. If it is missing, the installation stops with a message.
  • .NET does not need to be installed separately; the MSI includes it.
  • A newer version replaces the old one. Installing an older version over a newer one is refused.
  • The registry gets HKLM\SOFTWARE\DynBrowser, including the value Version.

Microsoft Intune

File: DynBrowser-Intune-<version>.intunewin.

The .intunewin file contains the MSI. When creating the Win32 app, use:

Field Value
Install command msiexec /i DynBrowser.msi /qn /norestart IS_INTUNE_DEPLOY=1
Uninstall command msiexec /x {ProductCode} /qn /norestart
Install behaviour System
Requirements 64-bit, Windows 10 1809 or later
Detection rule Registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DynBrowser, value Version, string equals the version (not a 32-bit app)
Dependency Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime
Supersedence Uninstall previous version: Yes

Important

With IS_INTUNE_DEPLOY=1 DynBrowser switches off its own updater: updates then come through Intune only. If you leave the property out, DynBrowser updates itself outside Intune. See Updates.

ZIP version

File: DynBrowser-<version>.zip.

Unzip the file and start DynBrowser.exe. Nothing is registered in the registry or in Apps & features. The folder contains DynUpdater.exe, which puts later updates in the same folder. The .NET 10 Desktop Runtime must be installed.

If you later run the setup wizard on a PC with a ZIP version, the wizard offers to update it.

Presetting for your organisation

You can supply settings, so users don't have to fill anything in.

publisher-defaults.json

Put a file publisher-defaults.json next to the setup wizard (DynSolutionzSetup.exe). The wizard takes it into the installation folder, and DynBrowser applies it on the next start.

{
  "Version": "1.1",
  "GlobalSettingsPath": "\\\\server\\share\\DynBrowser",
  "D365Auth": {
    "TenantId": "00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000",
    "ClientId": "00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000",
    "ResourceUrl": "https://yourcompany.operations.dynamics.com",
    "KnownEnvironmentUrls": [
      "https://yourcompany.operations.dynamics.com",
      "https://yourcompany-test.sandbox.operations.dynamics.com"
    ]
  },
  "Settings": {
    "GlobalLanguage": "EN",
    "TelemetryEnabled": true
  }
}
  • Version decides when the file is applied: once, and after that only when the version is higher than the previous one. Users can change values afterwards; the next version overwrites them again. Start at a version above 1.0.
  • D365Auth: the sign-in details from Signing in to D365. When this block changes, users have to sign in again.
  • GlobalSettingsPath: a shared folder (see below).
  • Settings: other preferences, such as the language ("NL" or "EN"), error reports (TelemetryEnabled), saving passwords in the browser (IsPasswordAutosaveEnabled) or blocked websites (BlockedWebsites).

The setup wizard also has a D365 environments panel where you can fill in the environments.

The MSI does not take a publisher-defaults.json. If you want to roll out settings centrally with an MSI installation, contact DynSolutionZ.

Shared folder

With a shared folder (a network path, set with GlobalSettingsPath or in Browser Settings → Global settings → Shared folder path) every workstation reads the same sign-in details, Vault settings and packing groups. Users need read and write access to that folder.

Removing

  • Setup wizard: through Apps & features, or silently with "%LocalAppData%\Programs\DynBrowser\DynSolutionzSetup.exe" --uninstall --product=dynbrowser --silent.
  • MSI: through Apps & features or msiexec /x.

Settings and local data in %LocalAppData%\ERPBrowser stay, unless you pass --purge-data (or tick "Also delete my settings and local data" in the wizard). The browser data in %LocalAppData%\DynBrowser\Data always stays; you can delete that folder yourself after removal.
